Karakum stands for high-energy live shows, driving grooves and atmospheric moments where everything in the room connects – somewhere between rave and concert. The Leipzig-based band unites melodic synth and guitar sounds, warm basslines, organic drums and soulful vocals into a sound that brings electronic dance music to life – in the most literal sense. Their audiovisual concept transforms every show into a dynamic work of art that shifts with the space and the crowd.

"Hey, play bass, looking for a band."
With this terse note on a university board in Jena, everything began seven years ago. What followed was no ordinary band formation, but the slow coming-together of four musicians who didn't just want to produce electronic dance music – they wanted to play it. Last year, Karakum fulfilled a long-held dream, taking the stage on Saturday night at the Fusion Festival's iconic Sonnendeck. International recognition followed when the band collaborated with Schiller on two tracks, whose accompanying album reached number one on the German album charts.

Mit diesem wortkargen Aushang an der Uni Jena fing vor sieben Jahren alles an. Was folgte, war keine gewöhnliche Bandgründung, sondern das langsame Zusammenwachsen von vier Musikern, die elektronische Tanzmusik nicht nur produzieren, sondern auch spielen wollten. Letztes Jahr konnte sich Karakum den großen Traum erfüllen, Samstag Nacht auf dem Sonnendeck der Fusion zu spielen. Internationale Aufmerksamkeit kam hinzu, als die Band gemeinsam mit Schiller zwei Songs veröffentlichte, dessen zugehöriges Album Platz 1 der deutschen Album Charts erreichte.
